Acting Secretary of Labor thanks SMACNA for Philadelphia Visit

Keith Sonderling expresses his gratitude towards the leaders of SMCA and talks about the ongoing collaboration regarding workforce development and apprenticeships.

Acting Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling expressed his gratitude towards SMCA (SMACNA’s Philadelphia Chapter) for the hospitality shown to him during his recent visit to the chapter headquarters and member firm Prime Sheet Metal.

In his correspondence, Sonderling stated that “The visit gave a direct view of how your work supports local workforce priorities and how those efforts contribute to our nation's broader economic goals.” He continued talking about some of the greater issues where there is ongoing collaboration going on, saying “Our discussions on workforce development, apprenticeships, and initiatives showed how your efforts contribute to opportunities for Americans in both tangible and meaningful ways. The conversation, along with the hospitality from your team, helped illustrate how your day-to-day operations relate to the initiatives you highlighted.”

Sonderling was recently nominated to be Secretary of Labor, an action that SMACNA supports.
