Learn More About What’s Happening at the December Council Meeting

We invite you to San Diego, California, from December 6 to 8, 2026, for the next Council of Chapter Representatives Meeting!

This meeting, held twice a year, gives you the chance to:

• Get the latest updates on SMACNA initiatives and important industry news.
• Share your chapter’s perspective and make sure your peers and SMACNA leadership hear your input.
• Take part in open forums, connect with other representatives, and learn from SMACNA National staff, elected officials, and guest speakers.

Please continue to note that this event is for Chapter Executives and Councilors only!

 Submit Agenda Topics

SMACNA is still accepting agenda topics for the upcoming Council of Chapter Representatives meeting:

• You can suggest topics that may lead to recommendations for the SMACNA Board of Directors or simply be discussed for information during the Council meeting.
• To submit a topic, fill out this form and either submit it online or email it to Laurie Greene at lgreene@smacna.org by October 2, 2026.
• Only topics submitted by the deadline will be included on the agenda. If you submit a topic after the deadline, it will be moved to the next Council meeting unless leadership considers it urgent.

If new topics come up during the meeting that were not on the original agenda, they will follow the Council’s rules for non-agenda items. Acting on these topics will need a two-thirds majority vote from the councilors present.

We also encourage you to join some of the programs and events happening during the Council meeting.

Optional Golf Returns on December 6:
You can play optional golf on Sunday, December 6, at Steele Canyon Golf Club, which is about 30 minutes from the Gaylord Resort.

• The fee is $175 per player, which includes golf, a cart, and range balls.
• Club rentals are $85 per set.
• Tee times start at 8:30 a.m.

Welcome Reception on the Evening of December 6:
Join us for a welcome reception from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. There will be hearty appetizers and lots of chances to connect with other attendees and SMACNA staff.

Guests are welcome. Please register your guests ahead of time so we can plan for food and drinks

All registrants should book their own hotel rooms directly with the Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center using the SMACNA room block. Your registration confirmation email will include a link to book your hotel, or you can use the Book My Hotel button on the December Council event page.

Please reserve your hotel room by November 4, 2026, to get the special group room rate.

Industry Fund Seminar:
Join us immediately following the December Council of Chapter Representatives Meeting for the Industry Fund Seminar, a valuable educational program designed for SMACNA chapter executives, industry fund trustees, and others responsible for the administration of local industry funds.

This free seminar, held every two years, offers practical advice on the legal, financial, and operational duties of managing an industry fund. You’ll learn about the laws and regulations for industry funds and best practices for compliance, accountability, and long-term success.

Topics include:

• Industry fund purpose, structure, and governance
• The relationship between industry funds and chapter associations
• Federal labor and tax law considerations
• Trustee responsibilities and fiduciary obligations
• Permissible and impermissible uses of industry fund resources
• Financial reporting, audits, and transparency requirements
• Policies and procedures that support sound fund administration

The seminar will also cover real-world situations and new challenges for industry fund trustees and managers. You’ll get practical solutions and a chance to talk with experienced presenters and peers.

Whether you are new to managing industry funds or have years of experience, this seminar will give you helpful insights and resources to keep your fund running smoothly and in line with the law.
