SMACNA Joins Tradeswomen Build Nations to Support Women in the Trades

SMACNA spent the October 9-11th conference in Houston, TX, focused on celebrating women in the trades, convening women's committees, and showcasing support by SMACNA leadership.

SMACNA’s executive leadership team, Labor Relations and Innovation Departments, and Women in Leadership Committee joined thousands of skilled tradeswomen and industry leaders at last weekend’s Tradeswomen Build Nations conference, the largest gathering of women in the trades. The event provided an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of women across the construction industry, strengthen industry relationships, and demonstrate SMACNA’s continued commitment to supporting women in the skilled trades.

A highlight of the conference was the signature Banner Parade, where SMACNA representatives joined fellow industry participants to show their support for tradeswomen and recognize the important role women play in building and strengthening the construction workforce. SMACNA’s participation reflected the organization’s ongoing commitment to fostering a professional environment where everyone has the opportunity to contribute, grow, and succeed.

Building on this partnership, SMACNA and SMART are planning an upcoming Women in the Trades Learning Journey, which will feature a joint conversation between SMACNA’s Women in Leadership Committee and SMART’s International Women’s Committee. The discussion will provide an opportunity to share experiences, exchange perspectives, and highlight the work being done across the industry to support women and strengthen the workforce. SMACNA’s participation in Tradeswomen Build Nations reinforces the importance of collaboration between contractors, labor, and industry leaders. By continuing to work together, SMACNA and SMART can build on existing efforts to create positive workplace experiences, strengthen the labor-management relationship, and support the long-term success of the sheet metal industry.

Incoming SMACNA President Scott Vidimos marches in the Tradeswomen Build Nations Banner Parade.
