At this year’s SMACNA Annual Convention, Government Affairs Director Stan Kolbe and Denise Murphy McGraw, Special Assistant for Government and Political Affairs, led an engaging and informative presentation on SMACNA’s advocacy priorities and the growing importance of grassroots engagement at all levels of government.
Kolbe provided an update on federal policy issues that directly impact SMACNA contractors—including infrastructure investment, workforce development, tax policy, and energy efficiency initiatives. He emphasized how SMACNA’s presence in Washington, D.C. ensures contractors’ interests are represented in congressional deliberations and regulatory discussions.
McGraw’s remarks focused on the expanding role of state and local chapters in shaping policy outcomes. She highlighted how SMACNA members across the country are strengthening their legislative engagement, building relationships with policymakers, and advancing initiatives tailored to their regions.
