DOL Rescinds Previous Joint Employer Rule

In a final rule released on July 29, the Department of Labor (DOL) rescinded the 2020 Joint Employer Status Under the Fair Labor Standards Act rule.  The rescission will take effect on September 28, 2021.

Hawaii has begun lifting some its restriction on out-of-state travelers to the islands. Please be aware that the official convention hotel site is now sold out; however, there are several nearby options available for attendees. There are also certain protocols that all travelers to Hawaii must follow. Additionally, the educational programing for the SMACNA Annual Convention has been finalized.

Employers May Offer Vaccine Incentives

Updated EEOC guidelines note that EEO laws do not preclude employers from offering incentives to employees who voluntarily provide proof of a COVID vaccinations. Vaccination information must be kept confidential and remain in compliance with all federal disability laws and other protections against discrimination.
