ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Navigating Your Exit Strategy will focus on exit options and how business owners can develop a personalized exit plan.

The program encompasses owner readiness, business preparedness, market readiness, exit alternatives, the sales process, and legal and tax implications. Attendees will gain insights into their options, acquiring knowledge of realistic expectations and consequences associated with ownership transfer. They will acquire the skills to analyze and appraise their firms comprehensively, considering aspects ranging from marketing and operations to financial standing and withdrawal liabilities. Additionally, participants will delve into the examination of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats crucial for strategic business exit planning. Participants will develop personalized action plans, allowing for ongoing tracking and monitoring.

Learn the Three Keys to a Planned Exit:

1.    Owner Readiness Process – personal financial plan, lifestyle plan, and emotional preparedness

2.    Business Readiness Process – review, assess and evaluate: sales, marketing, operations, org chart, financials and withdrawal liability

3.    Market Readiness – valuation, financing, deal structure, and buyer types (financial vs. strategic)

Selecting a Planned Exit Option:

•    Voluntary – family transition, ESOP, 3rd party sale, dissolution

•    Involuntary – death, divorce, departure, disability

Designing Your Planned Exit:

•    Align with the original objective – still on track?

•    Decide best option – how to best prepare the business

•    Consider the deal structure

Participants will learn about:

•    Options available

•    Where to start

•    Additional resources

Monday afternoon will include a panel discussion with several mentors (SMACNA contractors) that have recently exited their businesses.  Discussion will focus on successes, failures, best practices and lessons learned during their exiting process.

Participants will have the option to request a one-on-one appointment with Mr. Ovrom or Ms. Steinbrenner to discuss their personal exit plan. Alternatively, following the program participants will have the option to schedule a conference call with Mr. Ovrom or Ms. Steinbrenner.
