Department of Energy Announces New Workforce Development Grants

State energy offices can apply for $150 million in funding from the State-Based Home Energy Efficiency Contractor Training Grants Program to support the training of new contractors.

The Department of Energy has announced that it is now accepting applications for $150 million in funding from the State-Based Home Energy Efficiency Contractor Training Grants Program. These funds, available through what is commonly known as Contractor Training Grants, are meant to develop and train new skilled workers and upskill existing ones.

These grants could dramatically benefit our industry by enabling local JATCs to expand and improve their training offerings to prepare rising apprentices with the surge of work that will be coming through initiatives such as the Home Energy Rebate Programs that will provide $9 Billion to states to retrofit and electrify homes.
