SMACNA President Tony Kocurek was featured in a recent piece in ACHR News regarding the value of Indoor Air Quality in multifamily housing units. Kocurek detailed how superior indoor air quality could prove to be a selling point for multifamily building owners, saying “In the past, people really didn’t think much about it. But now it is something that’s on the forefront of their minds,” Kocurek said. “And when they’re going into a multilevel building, especially a high-rise apartment complex or something, first question that they ask is: ‘What is the air quality? How are you taking care of it?’ Or, ‘Is there proper filtration?’“

Kocurek also detailed the rise in IAQ-associated work since the pandemic, stating how it makes up nearly 40 percent of his business presently, where before the pandemic, there was little to no work. Finally, he touted SMACNA’s recently launched IAQ awareness web resource, wearewhatwebreathe.com and detailed its value to the public in addressing their IAQ needs.
