Event celebrated historic construction industry achievement honoring Local 46 and its members for their contribution to the region, and recognized the Local's impact on the local community, its skyline and its history.

Local 46 of Rochester, NY, celebrated its distinguished history and 125th Anniversary of serving the larger Rochester community, the upstate NY region, and the greater NY state construction industry. Several industry dignitaries journeyed to Rochester's Riverside Convention Center to address and honor the gala celebration. They included UniCon CEO Joe Morelle, Jr., NEMI Administrator Lisa Davis, NEMI Representative for the NE Region Jeremy Zeedyk, NY State Senator Jeremy Cooney (D-Rochester), and SMACNA CEO Aaron Hilger, who has a long history of collaboration with the Local dating back to his time as the Chapter Manager. In addition, SMACNA's Executive Director of Government and Political Affairs, Stan Kolbe, addressed the event, and Troy Milne, Business Manager for Local 46, served as the MC for the proceedings.

In addition to recognizing the local’s long history of service, NEMI recognized Local 46 for its work in establishing the highly successful and new TABB-certified laboratory and advanced Ventilation Verification curriculum. The hope is that Rochester-based contractors will expand upon the ranks of the initial 40 certified technicians to stimulate the indoor air quality (IAQ) market and take advantage of enhanced labor and management career opportunities in the future. Also, a pinning ceremony was held to recognize and celebrate members who reached 15,25,40,50,60 individually and 70 years of membership.
In addition to celebrating Local 46’s membership, as well as its unique industry contribution and history, the event served as a gateway to the Local’s future as the ceremony served to mark the graduation of two apprentice classes from the local JATC with dozens of new skilled sheet metal workers now a great addition to our industry in upstate NY.
