Former US Rep. Earl Pomeroy to Return as Moderator for the 2024 CEA National Issues Conference

Current Senior Counsel at Alston & Bird and former North Dakota Congressman regarded as an expert on public policy advocacy.


Former US Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-ND) will again serve as featured moderator for the 2024 CEA National Issues Conference at the Royal Sonesta Washington DC Capitol Hill from May 6-8. Congressman Pomeroy served as North Dakota’s at-large U.S. Representative from 1993 to 2011 and was an outspoken advocate for small business and labor – management issues as well championing priority issues of importance to all CEA member organizations.  

In 2011, Pomeroy joined the DC law offices of Alston & Bird and became a leader in their Legislative and Public Policy Issues Group. He provides strategy and advocacy services to clients in various sectors, including health care delivery and reimbursement, energy, employee benefits, social security, business tax policy, and trade matters. 

While in Congress, Representative Pomeroy was a senior member of the US House Ways and Means Committee and rose to the position of Chairman of the powerful and influential Social Security Subcommittee. He applied his unique experiences as a North Dakota official and financial regulator to various issues before the Committee and was widely regarded as a House and Congressional leader on pensions and retirement income security issues.
